This trend shows an increase in public awareness and compliance and is not affected by viral issues related to tax officials
Banda Aceh (Armfalcon.com) – The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance of Aceh Province stated that the delivery of annual notification letters (SPT) for personal taxpayers as of March 31, 2023 in the province grew 16.28 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Imanul Hakim, Head of the DGT Regional Office of the Aceh Province Ministry of Finance in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, said that as of March 31, 2023, 249,354 taxpayers had submitted their SPT, while in the same period in 2022 there were 214,439 taxpayers.
“The trend for private taxpayers submitting SPT grew by 16.28 percent. This trend shows an increase in public awareness and compliance and is not affected by viral issues related to tax officials,” he said.
Imanul, who was accompanied by the Head of Public Relations for the Regional Office of the DGT Aceh Province, Ridho, said that the SPT submission target had also increased. The target for submission of SPT in 2022 is 318,475 taxpayers, increasing to 381,663 taxpayers in 2023.
“Even though as of March 31, 2023 it was not met, we are optimistic that this target can be met as of December 31, 2023. The same thing will happen in 2022, where the SPT target is 318,474 taxpayers with achievements as of March 31 only 214,439 or 67.33 percent and achievements per 31 December 2022 will be 340,520 taxpayers or 107.55 percent,” he said.
Imanul also said that even though the deadline for submitting tax returns was on March 31, individual taxpayers could still submit tax returns past the deadline. The delay in submitting the SPT is subject to sanctions in accordance with the law on general provisions and tax procedures.
“There should be no more personal taxpayers who are late in submitting their SPT because the submission process is carried out online. Meanwhile, sanctions for being late are subject to a fine of IDR 100,000 for each individual taxpayer,” he said.
He said that his party continues to provide socialization regarding the obligation to submit SPT for each taxpayer, so that taxpayer compliance with their annual obligations increases.
“In addition, we are improving tax services to make it easier for taxpayers to submit obligations such as forming services outside the office in the form of tax corners. And what needs to be remembered, submitting SPT is not paying taxes,” said Imanul.
