The Regent of Manokwari said that regional financial management must be of high quality

Good regional financial management must also be able to overcome various regional problems faced so far such as extreme poverty, unemployment and stunting

Manokwari, West Papua (Armfalcon.com) – The Regent of Manokwari, West Papua, Hermus Indou, said that planning, budgeting and regional financial administration policies in the future must be of higher quality, so that they will have an impact on people’s welfare.

“Apart from having an impact on increasing people’s welfare, good regional financial management must also be able to overcome various regional problems that have been faced so far such as extreme poverty, unemployment and stunting,” he said in Manokwari, West Papua, Thursday.

This was conveyed in response to the Manokwari Regency Government which again received an unqualified opinion (WTP) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on the 2022 Regional Government Financial Report (LKPD).

That way, the Manokwari Regency Government has won a WTP opinion from the BPK for four years in a row.

However, BPK provided a number of notes to be followed up by the Manokwari Regency Government in the process of administering regional finances, especially regarding the quality of planning and budgeting as well as regional spending which must pay attention to aspects mandatory spending on several priority matters which are mandated by law, namely education and health including the handling of stunting and extreme poverty.

“That is a directive from BPK RI,” said Hermus after receiving the LHP from BPK.

One of the things that will be of concern to the Manokwari Regency Government in the future is regarding the burden of spending on salaries for ASNs in Manokwari Regency.

Apart from that, there are several technical steps in the financial aspect which will indeed be followed up by the Manokwari Regency Administration in the administration of regional finances.

“We also hope that matters that are national and regional priorities in accelerating development in Manokwari Regency as the center of civilization and the capital city of West Papua Province will also receive attention in the planning and budgeting process,” he said.
