Mamuju, West Sulawesi (Armfalcon.com) – The cheap market held by the Mamuju Regency Government, West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar), is considered effective in reducing the inflation rate in the area.

Head of the Mamuju Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Achmad Nasir in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Monday said the Mamuju cheap market and direct cash assistance (BLT) distributed by the government in Mamuju were effective in suppressing inflation.

He said Mamuju was the area with the lowest inflation rate in Indonesia, reaching 2.96 percent on an annual basis, or below the national inflation rate, which was 4.33 percent.

According to him, the inflation rate cannot be separated from the performance of regional apparatus in Mamuju Regency through various excellent programs that have a direct or indirect impact on regional inflation rates.

“During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the prices of many basic necessities are monitored to be stable. Various efforts have been made by the government in Mamuju to keep inflation under control,” he said.

According to him, low inflation indicates the availability of goods is maintained, so that prices are relatively more stable, so that people will be able to meet their needs.

Mamuju Regent Sitti Sutinah Suhardi said the low inflation rate was an indication of good economic stability in the community, supported by the availability of goods and maintained purchasing power.

“The government in Mamuju will maintain this figure by continuing to encourage innovation and program interventions that can be interconnected,” he said.

He hopes that all parties can formulate ideas or offer creative ideas and also carry out joint interventions in maintaining the stability of the inflation rate in Mamuju Regency.

“Although maintaining something good is not easy, I believe that with the hard work and cohesiveness of the government and the community, Mamuju will always be taken into account at the national level through its proud achievements,” he said.
