The Business Trail of Dito Ariotedjo, Jokowi’s Newly Appointed Youngest Minister

Name Dito Ariotedjo is in the public spotlight. He was appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) became the Minister of Youth and Sports on Monday (3/4) this afternoon.

Dito replaced Zainudin Amali, who resigned from the Menpora chair on March 9, 2023. This inauguration made Dito the youngest minister in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

Understandably, he was born 32 years ago, namely on September 25, 1990 in Jakarta. The figure of Dito is known as a young cadre of the Golkar Party. However, outside of his political career, he is also known as a businessman.

In the business sector, Dito works with artist and businessman Raffi Ahmad. In 2021, he, Raffi Ahmad and CEO of Prestige Motor founded RANS Sport, a media company that creates and distributes sports and entertainment content for its audience.

He also serves as Chairman of RANS Nusantara FC, a football club that competes in Liga 1 2022/2023. In addition, he is part of RANS PIK Basketball, which competes in the Indonesia Basketball League (IBL).

Long before getting into the sports business, he had worked in the energy sector. Dito once worked at Medco Power Indonesia owned by Arifin Panigoro, as business development. The mining business seems familiar to Dito. The reason is, he is the youngest son of former PT Antam CEO Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo.

Then in 2012, he built his own business by establishing Grupara Ventures. Grupara Ventures’ business activities are in the investment sector, namely managing investor capital to be distributed to startup companies, aka startups that have advanced potential.

A year later, he founded the Freeware Spaces Group. Its core business provides coworking office in the Jakarta area. At a later date, Freeware changed its name to Wellspaces.co.

The fate of Grupara and Wellspaces is unknown now. Several sources said that Dito’s two businesses had gone out of business.

Since April 2022, Dito has been part of the team of experts for the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. He works for Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, who is also the chairman of Golkar. Dito served as special staff for inter-agency relations at the ministry.
