PUPR Minister: ASEAN Summit Infrastructure in Labuan Bajo Completed Early May

Armfalcon.com, JAKARTA — The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono is targeting infrastructure and supporting facilities for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, to be completed in early May. He instructed all construction work, both in Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori, to be carried out with the best method and quality.


“The target is to complete all work in early May 2023, before the ASEAN Summit takes place,” Basuki said in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday (27/4/2023).


“I ask that the quality of infrastructure be maintained and improved according to international event standards. Don’t play games, the quality of work must be the number one priority. Especially for road infrastructure, immediately improve the quality of asphalt,” he said.


Basuki also stressed that all work was carried out neatly and cleanly, paying attention to aesthetics and greenery in every area of ​​the venue and the access road corridors for the ASEAN Summit. This is so that the environment becomes more beautiful and not arid.


“After the construction work is completed, this must be accompanied by cleaning of leftover materials and spraying with water so that the construction area remains neat and clean. Each area, including media roads and pedestrian paths, must also be planted with various kinds of plants such as flamboyant trees, NTT cherry blossoms, coconuts, and so on. ,” he said.


The improvement of supporting facilities in Labuan Bajo-Tana Mori was carried out by the PUPR Ministry through the NTT Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) Directorate General of Cipta Karya and the NTT National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Directorate General of Highways. Improving facilities through the arrangement of areas and road corridors aims to support safety and comfort during the ASEAN Summit which will take place from 9 to 11 May 2023.


Currently, the progress of work on improving supporting facilities in the Labuan Bajo area is 73 percent. Meanwhile, the progress of work in SEZ Tana Mori currently reaches 94 percent.


The scope of work being carried out in the Labuan Bajo Area includes the construction of the West Manggarai Police Command Headquarters, the arrangement of the Labuan Bajo Marina Promenade Zone 4.


Then, improving the landscape quality of the Labuan Bajo road corridor, arranging the VVIP parking lot for the West Manggarai Regent’s office, arranging the SpBinongko-Sp Sylvia (JlWaecicu) roads and sidewalks, and arranging the median for Jalan Yohanes Sehadun (in front of Komodo Airport).


Meanwhile, the work being carried out at SEZ Tana Mori includes the construction of roundaboutbeachclubs, shelters, installation of geomats on the Tana Mori area road corridor, arrangement of roundabouts at the entrance to the ITDC area, and strengthening of slopes and plant stabilization on the Labuan Bajo-Tana Mori road section which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on March 14, 2023.


The PUPR Ministry is also building a Munting Child Reservoir between Labuan Bajo to Tana Mori in Warloka Village, Komodo District.


The Anak Munting Reservoir has a capacity of 159 thousand m3 and an inundation area of ​​4.5 hectares with the main function for conservation and supporting tourism in the Labuan Bajo Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) within the framework of the ASEAN Summit.
