Factory PT Pertamina International (PT KPI) Refinery Unit (RU) Dumai confirmed that the stock of fuel oil (BBM) was safe after a refinery explosion occurred in Dumai, Riau.
PT KPI RU Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Dumai Agustiawan said that the operational recovery process was currently being carried out.
“We also ensure that the national fuel stocks, especially the Northern Sumatra region, are safe. Hopefully the recovery process can run well so that in the next few days the refinery’s operational conditions can run optimally,” concluded Agustiawan in an official statement, Sunday (2/4) ).
Likewise, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional North Sumatra (Sumbagut) ensures that the supply and distribution of fuel and LPG in its operational areas is running well and safely after the explosion at the RU II Dumai refinery.
“People don’t worry about the existing stocks at the Integrated Terminal (IT), Fuel Terminal (FT) and Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut infrastructure, ensured they are safe and continue to operate normally,” said Area Manager Comm, Rail & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut Susanto August Satria.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut itself has a distribution operating area covering five provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau and the Riau Islands.
The RU II Dumai refinery supplies fuel and LPG to the operational facilities of the Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, including FT and IT located in Riau Province, Riau Archipelago and North Sumatra
“Our distribution process is still running normally, we received information that the condition of the refinery is currently running normally and everything can be handled properly and safely,” said Satria.
Meanwhile, the victims of the explosion increased to nine people. The victim was a worker in the operator’s room who was hit by broken glass.
All victims have returned to their homes after receiving treatment at the Pertamina Dumai Hospital.
As a result of this incident, several residents’ houses and houses of worship, especially those close to the refinery, also suffered minor damage. PT KPI RU Dumai is said to be immediately tackling the damage.
“PT KPI RU Dumai apologizes for this incident and we will be responsible for any losses that occur in the community,” Agustiawan said.
