Ma’ruf Amin Opens Voice about Opportunities for Conventional Banks to Presence in Aceh

vice President Ma’ruf Amin responding to the matter of the Provincial Government aceh which will open up opportunities bank Conventional operations are back in operation in Tanah Rencong. This consideration arose due to the service disruption that befell Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) some time ago.

Ma’ruf said technical service disruptions like this did not only occur at BSI, but other banks have also experienced similar problems.

“I think that this disturbance did not only occur at Islamic banks or at BSI. Previously, conventional banks have experienced it, BCA has also experienced it,” said Ma’ruf, after opening the 18th Asia Media Summit 2023 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday (23/5).

He asked BSI to improve the system in the future. Apart from that, Ma’ruf said there are other alternative Islamic banks to choose from, such as Bank Muamalat, Danamon Syariah to BCA Syariah.

“Sharia banks are not only BSI. There is Bank Muamalat, there is also Danamon Syariah, there is also BCA Syariah, there is also BTN Syariah and also several,” he added.

According to him, solving this problem is not difficult. Therefore, the problem of this disturbance will not be discussed by the government.

“I don’t think there will be any difficulties in dealing with (that). It is possible that this will happen from one of these banks, because there are many alternatives. And it will not be discussed in the government,” he said.

As is well known, the Government of Aceh has agreed to revise the qanun of the Islamic Financial Institution (LKS). This revision is planned to be carried out by the Aceh People’s Representative Council (DPRA). The decision was taken after the interruption of the BSI transaction occurred, which was allegedly caused by a cyber attack.
