MA appointed Filianingsih Hendarta as BI Deputy Governor for 2023-2028

The Supreme Court (MA) appointed Filianingsih Hendarta as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 2023-2028 period.

“Based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 21/P/2023 dated March 15, 2023, Filianingsih Hendarta has been appointed as Deputy Governor of BI,” said Deputy Chief Justice for Judicial Affairs Sunarto in the Oath Ceremony of Filianingsih Hendarta as Deputy Governor of BI who monitored online in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Prior to being sworn in as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Sunarto asked Filianingsih to take an oath according to her religion.

The inauguration was carried out based on Presidential Decree Number 21/P/2023 concerning Dismissal and Appointment of Deputy Governor of BI.

The Presidential Decree contains the respectful dismissal of Dody Budi Waluyo as Deputy Governor of BI starting April 18, 2023, accompanied by thanks for his dedication and services while in office.

Then, the Presidential Decree also appointed Filianingsih Hendarta as Deputy Governor of BI starting from the date of taking the oath or pledge.

The inauguration was carried out after the House of Representatives (DPR) approved Filianingsih Hendarta to become Deputy Governor of BI for the 2023-2028 period after receiving and submitting approval of the Commission XI report on the results of the fit and proper test for Candidates for Deputy Governor of BI.

“The entire board congratulates the Candidate for Deputy Governor of BI, hopefully he can carry out his duties with responsibility and trust,” said Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in a Plenary Meeting at the DPR RI Building which was monitored online in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/2).

The 16th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI Session Period III Session Year 2022-2023 gave approval for the results of the fit and proper test for candidates for the BI deputy governor.

Filianingsih began her career at the Central Bank in 1986. She has served as Head of the Payment System Policy Department since 2019. She has served as Head of the Monetary Management Department (2013-2015) and Head of the Macroprudential Policy Department (2015-2019).

The woman who was born in Surabaya in 1963 completed her bachelor’s degree in law at Airlangga University in 1985. She earned a master’s degree in economics and finance from Boston University in the United States in 1992.
