Jokowi Checks Damaged Roads Again, This Time in Jambi

Armfalcon.com, JAKARTA — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) returned to check the condition of damaged roads after his review to Lampung Province some time ago. This time Jokowi inspected the damaged road in Jambi-Sungai Gelam City, Muaro Jambi, during his working visit to Jambi City on Tuesday (16/5/2023).

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the President Bey Machmudin said that the President’s agenda to inspect damaged roads in Jambi was carried out after he visited the market and visited SMKN 4 Jambi City.

“This morning we went to the market, inspected SMK N 4 Jambi City and inspected the Jambi City-Sungai Gelam road section, Muaro Jambi,” Bey told reporters.

According to Bey, the roads being reviewed by Jokowi include roads whose conditions have been damaged. The road is included in the handling of damaged roads by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.

“The roads that have been recorded by the PUPR Ministry are included in the handling of damaged roads,” he said.

Previously, after observing the damaged roads in Lampung, Jokowi said that he would disburse a budget of around Rp. 800 billion, specifically for the repair of damaged roads in Lampung Province. According to Jokowi, there will be 15 roads in Lampung that will be repaired by the central government.

“This year the central government specifically for Lampung will disburse a budget of approximately IDR 800 billion for 15 road sections including this,” said Jokowi after reviewing the condition of damaged roads in Lampung, Friday (5/5/2023).

Jokowi emphasized that repairing damaged roads is not only the responsibility of the central government but also the responsibility of provincial, city and district governments. Because of that, he requested that not all road repairs be carried out by the central government.

He said repairs to damaged roads by the central government would also be carried out in several other provinces. Jokowi then opened a public complaint to report the condition of damaged roads in his area through his official account Instagramhis @jokowi.

In the upload on the account InstagramOn Friday (5/5) afternoon, Jokowi conveyed his message to the public after inspecting damaged roads in Lampung Province. Jokowi said that if roads in the area were still badly damaged and had not been repaired for a long time, the public could complain about them through Jokowi’s social media accounts.

“If the road in your area is still badly damaged and hasn’t been repaired for a long time, tell me via the comments column and send a video via direct message on your account. Instagram this,” Jokowi said in his upload quoted on Saturday (6/5).

Jokowi emphasized that infrastructure development is important to support the flow of mobility of both goods and people. Good mobility, he said, would help reduce logistics costs and the price of goods.
