Jakarta, Armfalcon.com

Zakat is the obligation of Muslims as in the third pillar of Islam. Special zakat fitrahadherents of Islam are required to pay it ahead of Eid, to be precise during Ramadan until before the time of the Id prayer.

Quoting Dompetdhuafa.org, zakat fitrah is a type of zakat that must be paid by the wealthy. Zakat fitrah is generally in the form of basic necessities, such as rice, flour, wheat, and so on.

Although generally paid in the form of rice, zakat fitrah can also use money. Later, the money will be channeled in the form of basic commodities.

The way to calculate zakat that must be paid by Muslims and according to Islamic law is based on the value of the staple food that will be distributed.

In general, the staple food consumed in Indonesia is rice. So, people who pay zakat fitrah must pay in the form of rice weighing 2.5 kilograms or 3.5 liters.

Meanwhile, the payment of zakat fitrah in the form of money can be paid in a nominal equivalent to the price of rice weighing at least 2.5 kilograms. The money spent is adjusted to the price of rice in each region.

Each region has a different value of zakat fitrah in the form of money. Meanwhile, referring to the Decree of the Head of the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) Number 10 of 2022 concerning Zakat Fitrah and Fidyah, zakat fitrah for the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings is set at the equivalent of IDR 45 thousand per person.

Zakat fitrah can be paid to people who are entitled to receive it, namely the needy, the poor, amil, converts, riqab, gharim, fisabilillah, and ibnu sabil.
