D-3 of Eid, Beef Prices Skyrocketed 27 Percent in Jakarta and Riau

Jakarta, Armfalcon.com

Price beef in Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, an increase of around 14 percent was observed from IDR 140,000 to IDR 160,000 per kilogram (kg).

Apart from that, frozen meat, which is usually sold at IDR 120,000, was also observed to have increased to IDR 145,000 per kg.

It is predicted that the increase in beef prices will continue to occur closer to Eid or Eid Al-Fitr 1444 H or 2023 due to increased demand.

“Just last night it went up. Even though it has gone up twice at this rate,” said a trader at Pasar Senen, Kiki in a broadcast Armfalcon.com TV, Wednesday (19/4).

A buyer, Reny, assesses that the price of beef currently being sold is still reasonable given the momentum ahead of Idul Fitri. He admitted buying rendang to be cooked into a rendang dish.

“It really has to be like that, right, especially when it’s Eid,” said Reny.

The increase in beef prices also occurred in Tanjungpinang, Riau Archipelago.

At the Bintan Center Market, on Tuesday morning, beef was observed to be sold at IDR 190,000 per kg. This price is up 27 percent from the previous price of IDR 150 thousand per kg.

Not only that, the price of frozen beef also rose from IDR 110,000 to IDR 130,000 per kg.

According to traders, this increase is due to the limited supply of beef cattle entering the Riau Archipelago.

Meanwhile, the demand for fresh beef also increases ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday.

“Rp. 190 thousand. Due to the scarcity of goods, there are none. So far, beef cattle cannot enter,” said a trader at the Bintan Center Market, Thamrin.

Residents hope that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of the Riau Archipelago can stabilize the price of fresh cattle by importing cattle from Jambi or Lampung.

Meanwhile, to get around the shortage of fresh meat supply, traders sell frozen meat imported from Australia.
