Armfalcon.com, JAKARTA — Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir asked state-owned food companies to increase readiness in welcoming Eid 2023. Erick himself accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the Tugu Palsigunung Market, Cimanggis District, Depok City, West Java Province and Sunday Market, South Jakarta.
Erick conveyed that this was Jokowi’s commitment to ensure the availability of staple food prices a week before Eid. “Thank God, Mr. President said earlier, the average price of basic commodities is still quite stable,” said Erick while accompanying Jokowi at the Tugu Palsigunung Market, Cimanggis District, Depok City, West Java Province, Thursday (13/4/2023).
In the president’s review of the two markets, Erick said the prices of basic commodities such as eggs to chicken meat did not increase. However, Erick said the prices of rice and onions were of concern to Jokowi because they were still high.
“Alhamdulillah overall, the prices of basic commodities are still quite under control. However, we still have to anticipate a surge in demand ahead of Eid,” said Erick.
Regarding rice prices, Erick continued, Perum Bulog is ready to follow up on Jokowi’s direction by immediately intervening through market operations. Erick said the Bulog operation was a form of the government’s readiness to maintain rice price stability in the market.
“Yes, the community was happy that prices were still safe, they also spoke with the President and hoped that this stability could be maintained. We, BUMN, certainly try our best to maintain the price of basic commodities,” said Erick.
