BNI estimates that there will be a significant increase in the use of TapCash cards

BNI estimates that the volume of TapCash card use will increase in various transportation facilities used for homecoming, such as toll roads, electric trains, and parking lots.

Jakarta (Armfalcon.com) – PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk estimates that there will be a significant increase in the use of TapCash cards on Eid Al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah.

“BNI continues to ensure that the infrastructure is ready to make it easier for customers to make transactions and to top up TapCash balances,” said BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo in an official statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

Eid Day is considered as an annual moment when people living in the capital city return to their hometowns in various regions.

The community movement at this moment is considered to have encouraged many electronic card transactions for various non-cash payments, both during travel and after arriving at the destination for leisure needs.

“BNI estimates that the volume of TapCash card use will increase in various transportation facilities used for homecoming, such as toll roads, electric trains, and parking lots,” he said.

In addition, the company estimates an increase in TapCash transactions at various supporting merchants such as minimarket merchants.

According to Okki, BNI continues to make it easier for customers to refill or top up TapCash balances wherever they are, given the high demand for TapCash customers.

“Customers can top up balances easily on their respective cellphones, with the support of the BNI Mobile Banking and TapCash Go applications, and various BNI channels and partners such as Agen46 and mini market retail partners. Of course, customers can transact safely and easily using TapCash at various transaction support merchants during the 2023 homecoming,” he said.

As of March 2023, TapCash card transactions have increased by 50 percent year on year (YoY).

The increase in these transactions was influenced by a number of factors. First, continued Okki, BNI has just released a special edition of TapCash, namely the TapCash NCT 127 edition, in line with the enormous interest from the K-POP community in Indonesia which has succeeded in contributing to an increase in TapCash card transactions.

Second, BNI is said to be expanding into various new merchants such as Food & Beverage and entertainment merchants.

In 2023, BNI targets TapCash to be actively used on toll roads as well as for various other needs such as parking.

Third, the company has carried out a series of developments for TapCash. For example, providing convenience in doing top-ups via personal cellphones with the BNI Mobile Banking application, TapCash Go, or BNI partner applications.

With these series of breakthroughs, Okki added that his party targets to increase TapCash transactions by more than 60 percent this year.

“Moreover, we are currently expanding co-branding with various regional banking institutions (BPD) and digital wallets. Of course, through this expansion, BNI plays a role as an enabler for TapCash transactions for these various regional banking institutions,” he said.
