Angkasa Pura II predicts the movement of aircraft at 20 airports to reach 36 thousand flights in the period Eid transportation 2023. The prediction is calculated from D-10 Eid to H + 10 Eid.
That figure is up 11 percent compared to last year’s Eid transportation.
AP II Main Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the increase in the number of aircraft movements was in line with the prediction of an increase in passengers of 5.2 million people, an increase of 25.4 percent compared to the 2022 Eid transportation.
“With this data, we estimate that the situation for Eid transportation in 2019 before the pandemic will be the same as for Eid transportation in 2023,” Awaluddin said in a hearing with Commission VI of the DPR, Monday (10/4).
With the surge in passengers, Awaluddin said AP II had received requests for 1,016 additional flights or extra flights. The jump in extra flights is said to have occurred at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) as well as airports in Bandung, Pekanbaru and Palembang.
In his presentation, Awaluddin detailed the 1,016 extra flights consisting of 854 domestic flights at Soetta Airport, 58 international flights at Soetta Airport, and 104 flights outside Soetta Airport.
“We stated that we are still able to handle the 1,016 extra flights in this year’s Eid transportation activities,” Awaluddin said.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicts that there will be 123 million travelers during the 2023 Eid holiday. This figure has increased significantly compared to the 2022 homecoming flow. The prediction for the number of Eid al-Fitr travelers in 2023 was obtained by the Ministry of Transportation through a number of surveys and research.
“The Ministry of Transportation conducted research, and the research we are doing, the current number has increased significantly, from 85 million to 123 million, which is very high,” said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi at the Merak Port Executive Pier, Cilegon City, Banten, Saturday ( 11/03).
Hundreds of millions of travelers will generally head to the eastern and western regions of Java Island. Therefore, all infrastructure and supporting facilities will be prepared in advance.
“Of the 123 million, it is dominated by land, four-wheeled and two-wheeled transportation. We coordinate with the governor, Korlantas, and several BUMN Directors, God willing, what is being done here is much better than last year,” explained Budi.
